Disaster Preparedness 2025 at Trinity

“Let each of you look not to your own interests, but to the interests of others.” — Philippians 2:4

As we begin the 2025 Hurricane Season, Trinity United Methodist Church is taking intentional steps to prepare, respond, and care for one another and our neighbors during times of crisis. We believe that preparedness is part of our calling to be the hands and feet of Christ, especially when disaster strikes.

Disaster Preparedness Ministry Initiatives for 2025

Trinity UMC is organizing several key initiatives as part of our disaster readiness plan. Here’s how we’re getting ready—and how you can help:

1. Distribution Station Ministry

In the event of a disaster, Trinity UMC will serve as a distribution site for relief supplies. We are recruiting and training volunteers to assist in this effort. A sign-up sheet will be available on June 1, and training will be offered later in the month.

2. Member Check-In and Needs Reporting

After a disaster, it's important to care for one another. We will implement a system to check in on church members and respond to urgent needs.

3. Home Inventory Ministry

We will offer assistance to help members create a video and photo inventory of their homes for insurance purposes—a vital step before hurricane season. Sign-ups for volunteers and participants will begin on June 1.

4. Debris Removal and Recovery Team

We are gauging interest in forming teams to assist with debris removal and cleanup efforts after a storm. If enough people express interest on June 1, the Missions Team will organize next steps for training and coordination.

How You Can Help

We invite everyone at Trinity UMC to:

  • Pray for safety, preparation, and compassion during this hurricane season.

  • Sign up on June 1 to serve in one of our disaster ministries.

  • Attend trainings and share your time and talents in times of need.

Together, we can be a church that not only weathers the storm, but brings hope in the midst of it.
